 The
Victory School Outreach Program offers a weekly
program of behavior therapy and life skills training
to children in the Dade and Broward County communities
who are challenged by severe developmental disabilities
including autism, mental retardation, cerebral
palsy, Spina-bifida or Prader-Wili syndrome. Clients
will be between the ages of 3 and 15 years. Every
Saturday the children will meet at 9 a.m. and
spend the morning working on individual goals
in the activities of daily living such as food
preparation, self-feeding, hygiene and social
skills. From noon to 4 p.m. the children will
travel into the community to experience various
integrative community settings and work on their
life function and adaptive skills. This service
will assist the children with the acquisition,
retention and improvement of skills related to
controlling the environment, accessing desired
activities and programs in the community, using
leisure time constructively and improving social
and adaptive skills. The service will be provided
in a one-to-one relationship within small groups.
The children will be evaluated at the start and
periodically throughout the continuous program
to measure their gains in understanding and performance
of life skills and community activity.
