Each day in the United States, millions of children go off to school, all with different strengths and weaknesses, abilities and needs. Over five million of these children have been identified as having a specific disability such as Autism, or a learning disability that necessitates some type of special instruction. In order to address the special needs of these children, schools rely upon people who have been specially trained to help them.
The Victory Center has created a special program designed for children with disabilities that are making the transition to a typical or mainstream classroom. An experienced teacher trained and supervised through The Victory Center provides a vital and indispensable role in the child’s long-term achievements.
The use of an instructional assistant (shadow) becomes a primary mechanism to implement more inclusive school practices. This instructional assistant shadows the child throughout each day ensuring adequate educational support.
