Youngsters with autism and related disabilities often suffer from severe behavior problems that require continuous and systematic observation, analysis and intervention. For effective intervention and education to take place, it is essential that the family react to those behaviors in a manner consistent with the school.
The Victory School provides a range of training opportunities that enable parent and siblings to participate in their children’s learning experiences. Parental Observation during the school day coupled with regular Parent Training, where The Victory School personnel model the use of new intervention procedures.
Victory School staff members make regular home visits to families to consult with parents regarding program implementation and problem behavior. Frequent conferences with parents help to assure that young people’s new skills will generalize from school and Helping Hand programs add the community involvement edge to home and community settings.
