After School Care

For over ten years, The Victory School has provided children with Autism and other related disabilities a place to receive individualized therapy.

Making Friends After School Program

August 22, 2011 through June 8, 2012
Monday through Friday  2:30 PM to 5:30 PM
Our programs offer a safe, nurturing, developmentally appropriate environment for children. We accept children from the general population as well as children with autism and other developmental disorders. The programs provide an educational and creative environment by offering fun, engaging and educational activities for participants. These activities include literacy, physical fitness/interactive play, social skills development, proper nutrition, and family involvement, as well as educational, emotional and behavioral support.

The program offers carefully selected teachers with education and practical experiences in working with typical children as well as children with autism and similar disorders. Our teachers are well-trained in the methodologies and best practices of Applied Behavior Analysis.

The After School Program curriculum is designed to reinforce and compliment the work occurring in your daily school programs. The staff has the dedication, attention, and training needed to enhance your child’s literacy, fitness, social, and behavioral skills.

The program is designed to create an environment where typical children can become role models for children with Autism. The program promotes inclusion so that all children attending our programs will have opportunities to learn from their peers and generalize skills taught in the classroom to each other whether they have a disability or not. The skills and experiences gained throughout the year are targeted to enhance empathy and compassion by utilizing the buddy system.

The Victory Center’s Making Friends After-school Program provides services for children residing in the Greater Miami area. After-school services are provided to children ages 3 to 21 years. The program is provided in a structured educational setting with a 2:1 student/teacher ratio for students with disabilities, and a 3:1 student/teacher ratio for typically developing children. The after-care program is offered from August 22nd, 2011 through June 8th, 2012.

The After-school program runs during the school year and is available Monday through Friday 2:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.
